Abstract: Researching the Effectiveness of Adult Education. The paper deals with the identification of real effects arising in adult education. The core question is whether various forms of adult education always produces any positive effects (benefits) and of which kind. The paper describes selected concepts of efectiveness of adult education and attempts to measure the effects, mainly of further professional education. Also, some rare sceptical opinions claiming the non-existence of effects in adult education are compared with empirical evidence of the effectpp.

Abstract: Selected Issues in Didactics of Technical Subjects: Didactic Approaches to Defining and Structuring Technical Subjects As a Scientific and Academic Discipline. The present survey study aims to present the results of the authors’ work and own research in the area of ​​defining and structuring didactic of technical courses with a focus on secondary technical education. The overall objective is to contribute to the issue of didactics of technical courses in the area. After defining the problem we will deal with the current state of the problem, the wider context of the issue and the concept of didactics of technical courses while implying of our own conclusions and opinionpp. The result can serve to specialized didacticians of technical and science subjects in this area as inspiration for their work. However, it can also serve to specialized didacticians of other subjects as well as to students of teacher training for vocational and practical subjects in secondary vocational schoolpp. A critical analysis of resources and studies in this area has brought us to our own conclusions in the area of defining this specialized didactics, and we present them in the study.

Abstract: The Level of Critical Thinking in Students of Education. The ability to think critically is considered a key competence of the 21st century. Empirical findings are absent in Slovakia, therefore one of the goals of this work was to do research to determine the level of critical thinking in students of education. The statistic data was obtained through the analysis of the Watson-Glaser critical thinking assessment test. The sample consisted of 116 students of education at the Faculty of Humanities and Natural Sciences of University of Presov in Presov.

Abstract: Value Preferences of Czech and Slovak Students of Older School Age. The need to examine the value orientations resulted from current requirements in practice. At present, the paradigm of education is changing. Contradictions of today's civilization are naturally reflected in the education and training systems worldwide. The crisis of our civilization and the current systems of education are based on a crisis of value systems, a crisis of value orientationpp. Value systems represent an important regulator of social behaviour as value orientations influence the expression of a personality in its actions and behaviour, in identifying and achieving life goalpp. This is another reason why it is important to address this issue. In this paper we deal with an analysis of research findings related to preference of values ​​in older school age students from Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Abstract: Contemporary Family and the Diversity of Family Life Formpp. Contemporary Family and the Diversity of Family Life Formpp. Slovakia (as well as other post communistic countries) has been experiencing dynamic changes in family behaviour since 1989, which is reflected in the diversity of family life formpp. The dominant type, nuclear family, which is formed by two parents and a child or children, has been extended, in the process of family behaviour changes, by forms such as a family formed by one adult (a parent) or informal partnership couplepp. The study is aimed at the process of diversification of family behaviour, seeks to present a view of new forms of family and partnership life, and analyzes their difficulties and limitpp. This analysis focuses on five forms of family and partnership life which are typical of the current development and are organized with regard to family life cycle: single, cohabitation, marriage, one parent and reconstructed family. In the conclusion, the author indicates recommendations for family and school education aiming at improving the  preparation of students and the young for family life.
